Elections, journalism and Nato – what is going on in Turkey 26.4.

Join a webinar on the situation in Turkey on the eve of Presidential elections, on Wednesday 26th April at 12 – 14 pm.

This event features three Turkish journalists living in exile. They will present the current political situation in Turkey before the May 14th Presidential elections,  tell us how Finland’s and Swedens’ Nato accession has been discussed in Turkey and tell about their lives as exiled journalists in Europe.

Speakers  include Buket Güney, former correspondent and editor of Turkey’s once best selling newspaper Zaman that was closed in 2016; Dr. Bulent Kenes who an academic and journalist  with over 25 years of professional experience in foreign news, including working as the New York bureau chief of Anadolu news agency and working as the founding editor of Zaman. Third speaker Levent Kenez is former editor-in-chief of popular national daily Meydan in Turkey. Kenez lives in Sweden and he is one of the people whose extradition was requested by Turkish government in 2020.
